The night shift begins: the previous day's news, press release pages and European sources are read. The noise of thousands of items is filtered out by an intelligent screen.
Every item is classified into thirteen categories of the health and social care field, and its news value is weighed. At the same time a picture of the whole news day starts to form: the Hawk identifies clusters and phenomena, and notices the quiet signals in the field.
The night's harvest is distilled: the leading topics, the voices of NGOs, the connections between phenomena and the blind-spot findings are written up as a briefing.

Built for the field, from within the field
“I work in the health and social care NGO sector myself, and an unreasonable amount of time used to go every day into following developments in the field. Forming an overall picture out of the sector's abundant news flow was laborious.
At first I built a “Super Social Machine” for myself, to get a distillation of what actually happens in the sector each day. Very soon after the first reports, I realised that a great many others need this too. Järjestöhaukka was born.
Järjestöhaukka is small. I am responsible for the content and the technology myself. I have been fortunate to receive invaluable help with the development and with building customer relationships. It has been heartening to see how willing people are to help.
