2. What data we collect and why
- Beta application form (collected in summer 2026; the form is now closed): name and email address. We used them only for communication relating to the beta test and for sending the briefing. The data is deleted once the retention period ends — see section 6.
- Recipients of the briefing: email address and the status of the subscription (e.g. cancellation), so that the briefing reaches you and unsubscribing works.
- Subscription and payment data: email address, the product subscribed to, the status of the subscription and the billing history. Payments are handled by Stripe, which processes the transaction and your card details in its own systems — Järjestöhaukka never sees or stores your card details. If the subscription was made through a seller's referral link or campaign code, we store the seller's identifier so that the commission is recorded correctly.
- Billing details for organisation subscriptions: the organisation's name, business ID, billing address, reference, and the contact person's name and email address. These are needed to issue the invoice and for bookkeeping.
- Technical server logs: for security reasons the server records ordinary connection data (including the IP address) for a short period. Logs are not linked to individuals and are not used for tracking.
The legal basis for processing is your consent (submitting the form) and, for paid subscriptions, performance of the contract — the subscription cannot be delivered without these details. For accounting records the basis is a legal obligation.
3. Cookies: only the essentials, no tracking
This website uses no analytics, advertising or tracking tools and loads no third-party content. We do not follow you across other sites and we do not build a profile of you. Only two of our own cookies are used:
- Language preference (
hk_kieli): remembers which language you want the site in, so you don't have to choose every time. Valid for one year. - Referral information (
hk_ref): if you arrive through a partner's referral link, we remember which link you came from so the referral is credited to the right partner. It contains only the partner's code — nothing about you. Valid for 100 days.
Neither cookie identifies you personally. You can delete cookies at any time in your browser settings, and the site will still work.
4. Where data is processed
All processing of personal data takes place within the EU. For our tasks — receiving and sending email, managing the recipient list and running the server infrastructure — we rely on a small number of carefully chosen service providers whose servers are located in the EU. These providers process data only on our behalf and according to our instructions, never for their own purposes.
Screening and classifying the news material happens entirely on our own server in the EU. To write the morning digest we use the best language models available at any given time, which means news material — headlines, summaries and source links — may also be processed outside the EU/EEA. This is public news material: subscriber personal data is never given to any AI service.
Payment processing: payments are handled by Stripe, whose European contracting entity is Stripe Technology Europe Limited (Ireland). Stripe also processes transaction data as a controller in its own right, as required by payment services legislation.
Your personal data is not transferred outside the EU/EEA. We do not disclose your data to third parties for their own purposes, and never for marketing. Data is not used for automated decision-making or profiling.
5. Retention periods
- Beta applications: for the duration of the beta period and at most 3 months after it ends, after which they are deleted.
- Recipient details: until you cancel your subscription or request deletion.
- Accounting records (invoices, payment transactions and related data): 6 years from the end of the calendar year in which the financial period ends — the period required by the Finnish Accounting Act. This material cannot be deleted on request before that period ends.
- Technical logs: at most 30 days.
6. Your rights
You have the right to access your data, to request its rectification or erasure, and to withdraw your consent at any time — a single email to info@jarjestohaukka.fi is enough, and we will deal with it without delay.
